rejoin the computer to the domain, reinstalling doesnt work cuz you will get the same problem.
First disjoin the domain and join a workgroup, restart, join the domain. Then everything should work fine

Dear friend,
Even i tried disjoining it from the network, i logged as local system administrator but still same problem exist.i do not belive this issue is an Active directory problem.
Infact why i am so confident in that is i have re-installed windows in one of the system which showed same problem and it worked after reinstalling windows.Vibin manavalan

Is this happening on just one or two machines or all of them?
I'd check the following...
- network ethernet settings.
- current NIC drivers?
- scan for viruses?
- are your client patches/hotfixes current?
- have you checked the event viewer for any clues?

This happening only on two machines, all other machines are working fine
I have re-configured network card and TCP/IP
Previously there was some virus issue (Win32.spybot)but currently these machines are free of viruses.
I have updated windows from microsoft site.
there is no events generating while my system hangs or prior to that.

Of the two computers that don't work, you mentioned you reinstalled w2k on one and everything works on that one. What's the difference between the two...software/settings wise?
How are the shares mapped...IP or netbios name? Try both ways or just try disconnecting and remapping.
How about adjusting link speed and duplex on the NIC?
If it still doesn't work, might as well just reload the thing and get it over with.

i need a solution without re-installing windows 2000 or provide me a solution to re install windows without changing the sertup, profiles and application.

It is AD related cuz kerberos authentication is failing. If you say a clean install works then you have software that is letting kerberos fail. What's different between a new installed and the other pc?
And why dont you just install a new pc then your problem is solved.

if i am newly installing windows, i will lose all the setups of that system and moreover this pc is is having lots of software which cannot be copied.
please suggest me a solution without reinstalling windows.
