HI all,

I run into this problem w/ DCHP service. My nic doesn't get the ipaddress after installing Norton antivirus. I removed it but it still doesn' work . Here is the error message:

Error code: 7000
The SYMTDI service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

Can you help me please

I was having this same problem.... I edited the registry according to this and everything worked fine:
HKLM --> SYSTEM --> ControlSet001 --> Services --> DHCP --> DependOnService

I edited the value and removed the SYMTDI listing. Rebooted and my router assigned an IP address immediately.
Hope this helps.

P.S. I'm not sure what symtdi is for but I think it was a hold over from my wireless BlueGear USB bluetooth adapter on mine. I also removed the SYMTDI listing under SERVICES in the registry.

I found it.....

This says that SYMTDI is part of Norton. I haven't had Norton on my system in AGES.... But i also didn't use DHCP with my bluetooth adapters. Anyway.... Enjoy your internet!!
