svchost.exe error - Scan utility!!!

I know lots of people are receiving this svchost.exe error. I don't know what the fix is, but I have noticed a possible cause. I downloaded Microsoft's Scan utitlity - KB823980Scan.exe - and tried it out. Turns out IT actually causes the svchost error. I tried it out several times, by restarting the RPC service on a PC, and then scanning that PC with the tool, and everytime, I get the error. Is this the 'FIX' that microsoft intended???? I'd be interested to hear from anyone else that can recreate this.!!

The KB823980Scan.exe is a tool from Microsoft that helps the administrator of a network to scan the network for computers that are not patched yet with the KB823980-Hotfix from MS. Used it in our network and it works well. What you need is the KB823980 PATCH, not KB823980SCAN.exe
