This is the same problem as so many people have. I have run the virus fix tool and it didn't find any and also said my computer could be vulnerable to the virsu. so i installed the patch file and as a result now i see that, Copy paste only works in Notepad and that of folder or file copy in the explorer doesn't work.
The is no items found in my Network and Dialup Connections.
The no items seen in the Winnt directory and that of the network places but if i move the cursor down, i can see the tool tip coming in the status bar.
The orientation of the MyPictures/Control Panel are changed.
The properties are not coming in the when u try to see any in the Services directory.
Please anyone give a good solution, as i have tried most of them that has been posted in this site, but still i need a Shootgun for Bill Gates

FIXBLAST.EXE didnt work for me either, however the 'Windows2000-KB823980-x86-ENU.exe' file available from the MS site did.
Have you tried it?

Try a manual search for:
-W32*
-w32.*
-blast*Reboot and let NortonAV with the latest update re-scan the system, it took a number of tries to get the %@$#! thing out of one client's system.

wrong!!!!!!
ok....
listen the answers that you have been getting are all wrong!!!
This has nothing at all to do withe microsoftworn BS that has been going on!!!
True, the worn does give those symptoms..... But this has nothing to do with the worm and has everything to do withthe basic setup in win2K!!I have found the solution to this problem.
The solution come in 3 parts:
First, you need to install service pack4 from microsoft. (which by the way will solve the "worm problem" )
Second, you need to download from Microsoft and install the file:
Windows2000-KB823980-x86-ENU
Lastly you need to contact me to get some very specific WIN2K OS install instructions to tweak the install correctly.... This install instructions are sorta complicated, so i am not gonna write them all here.... but if you will email me @ pdy1969@yahoo.com I will send you a complete instruction document in ms word format that will tell you how to complete the third step!!
phil

do not listnen to phil, he will sent you a virus instead of a word document.
Download at least SP3 but i recommend SP4. download a removal tool for the blast worm virus i can sent it to you if you want it. scan your pc and tada he finds it well what do you know it is on your computer and your virus scan didnt saw it how rude!!! but seriously after this install SP4 and download the security patch from microsoft. Then your pc is working fine again
phil i am still waiting on that document of yours so i can mail it up your ass

Make sure your RPC Service is started (and is set up to run automatically). If you cannot access the Services MMC then open a command prompt and type:
net start rpcss

This is how I killed this You should have the microsoft reource kit tool kill.exe
1. Go to command pormt, then to root of each drive and run dir services.* /s /a.Delete every files that are SERVICE.exe OR SERVIES.DLL (case is important)
2. Open task manager and note the process ID of SERVICES.exe it should be 248
2. Go to the command prompt and run kill 248
3. It will the system shut down in one minutes however it will NOT.
4. copy the original services.exe from the I386 folder or from the CD to %WINROOT%\SYSTEM32 folder (C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32
5. Restart the computer
6. Also it is a good idea to disable the TCP/UDP port 102
Good Luck
