Hi,
I am having a problem on this old computer of mine. About 2 weeks ago, I started receiving errors from svchost.exe. A similar problem is:
Svchost.exe - Application error
The instruction at "...." referenced memory at ".....". The memory cannot be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program. Click on Cancel to debug the program.
For no particular reason, this would pop up and screw up my computer (can't copy/paste, can't click on links that open in new windows, etc.). This happened only when I was online though. It wasn't caused by any worms, because I've ran several updated virus scans, downloaded SP4 for win2k, Microsoft HotFixes for Blaster and other worms, and even ran the executable files for removing the worms (came up negative). I decided to reformat. When I was done, the first thing I did was install my modem so that I could get online. So I did. About a minute after I got online, I got this error message:
svchost.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. An error log is being created....
At that point, I had no idea what was wrong or how to fix it.
If anyone has any ideas, please help.

I have the same problem with svchost.exe on my Windows 2000. Configuration is 1GB RAM Intel P4.

got the same fault here on 3 systems out of 9, just removed the worm win32.blaster from other systems
working on it now!
NEw Help Site!!! Phorum!!

In the end it was the win32.blaster worm, this error is produced if the worm trys but fails to infect a system without the patches, as I am running XP Embedded here, no patches.
hope this helps, regards

I am having the same problem and I have all the patches. Any ideas on what I can do to fix the problem?
