Suppress PopUp ads in IE 5.5?

Yes, I know programs like ad-subtract suppress annoying ad popups, but they seem to slow down surfing. (still using dialup)

Does Win2000's windowsupdated IE 5.5 have a setting to suppress the popup ads?

The usual way is to go to Tools/Internet Options/Security/Custom level/Scripting

Scroll down to near the bottom of the list then click to disable Active Scripting.

Note: You will need active scripting enabled to read Hotmail and other pages, though.

There is anti-spam software available free on the Net - you can use a search engine to locate it.
