This is by far the strangest problem I've ever encountered in my 12 years in computers.
I have a new Plextor 12/32/32A IDE drive. The drive runs fine win 98, but in win2k I encounter the "weird problem."The Problem: Not one cdrom burning program works. Nero 5.x refuses to run. When executed, it does nothing except hides in memory. Easy CD Creator states that I have no cdrw devices, even though I do and all the ASPI is up to date and installed. Fireburner also give an error... but you get the picture.
I've tried everything from IDE port swapping, to bus master driver changing, to reformatting. Still, same problems.
Anyone else running into this problem? I'm using an ABIT KT7-RAID board with 2 harddisks on the raid controller and 3 cdroms on the IDE controller. The writer is on the Primary slave. ALL ASAPI DRIVERS HAVE BEEN UPDATED!!! So, that is obvously not the problem.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks...

I have the K7 raid board at home and with 2000 I was having troubles burning with my HP 8x Scsi with windows 2000. But windows 98 there was none. I also had alittle trouble with ME. I did a dual boot I have windows 98 and 2000 so when I want to burn I use 98. Maybe try a re-install of windows. When In doubt re-boot or re-install ha ha. At work i'm running 2000 and I have my Yamaha 16x running on my 2nd IDE slaved off my cd rom. I was having alot of trouble at work with buffer underruns. Nero seems to work fine but adaptec 5 has troubles at 16x. I think has alot to do with 2000. Do you have service pack 2 installed? It's worth a shot. Atleast you know it's not just you. Does your board have the 5 IDE slots. If so try another ide channel on the board make it a master. Mess around with the IDE's and let me know.
Thanks
