Hello all, i have an extremely weird problem. Here goes - I have a Win2000 network with ms exchange, and on one of our laptops (win98) an annoying problem with outlook 2000.
with this one particular user everytime you open outlook it comes up with a login screen (username, password, domain) which is strange cos it doesnt come up on any others. it wont accept the correct credentials and wont let us get into the program. So, thinking it was the laptops problem, i setup a different user for outlook on the same machine, and bingo it worked fine. So, then thinking it was a user setup issue, i tried the unsuccesful user on a different machine, and bingo it worked fine.i have tried everything reinstallation, deleted the user and added the new one but no luck. Hope you can help.

Hiya
silly question - but have you checked the logon network security??? (ie tools >services > advanced properties of ms exchange > advanced.
if this is not set to use NT authentication then it will ask for a user name and password.however you probably have checked this already.
if the laptop loggin onto the domain??

as mentioned by Louise, check out the NT Authentication. I would try deleting and re-creating his mail profile 1st.

Hi,I had this problem with a user once....c what was happening was that whenever this user was on the internet or sometimes not, these annoying advertisement windows would pop up. So, he went ti ie options, security and changed the security to high, after which, whenever he was trying to open his outlook, it would ask for username and pwd, but would not do so for another user on the same machine. i dont know if this is relevant or not, just thought i should share it, might help.!

Yes im afraid one of the 1st things i checked was the NT authentication logon and also have tried deleting and adding the user. The user has no trouble logging in to the network - only Outlook
