Hi, is there any way to automatically stop usb mass storage devices, before shutting down. What I want to do, is that after doing start-shutdown, the system stops usb mass storage devices all by itself. I was looking into a script, but couldn't find anything. Thanks a lot! frc

You got my curiosity up. I'm new to this site and just starting to really get into computers. I have 2000 PRO and just bought an external storage device. But I don't understand why and what you are doing. Could you fill me in on this, perhaps it's something I should be doing also?

Nothing obscure that you really SHOULD do, if you're ceful, but wouldn't hurt if you did. Have a lot of people working on their computers against usb pens, usb hard disks, or flash memories (CF and SD). They are in a hurry when they shutdown their computers, and don't wait for the memory or disk cache to be written to de devices. So, lots of complains about corrupted or missing files. If I was able to find a way to make the machine stop the usb, ergo writing everything before shutting down, a lots less headaches!
