In Windows 2000 Pro I get the following Stop Error: "STOP: 0X0000007B INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE" I have followed the insructions on the screen, the Getting Started book, and Microsofts website. I ran CHKDSK, checked for viruses and all that. Nothing works. This happened when I was uninstalling a game. I thought that I might be able to use the Setup opption Repair Previous Instalation, or some how reinstal the boot sector? Please can someone help me.

Boot up with a Win 98 floppy and type fdisk/mbr at the A:> prompt. That should rewrite your master boot record. Copy and paste: STOP: 0X0000007B INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE into a search engine (eg Google or AltaVista) or into the search box at the top of this page - there are lots of references to stop errors and links to the MS knowledge base. Try booting from the CD to The recovery console. Run CHKDSK /r When finished run FIXBOOT. Good luck.

Try choosing the repair option on the Win2000 cd, and type fixboot or fixmbr at the command line. Careful with that last one.

Or just run setup from the CD again and exit once it's started up. This restores the MBR and BRs too, but you'll need to remove the setup files and entry from the boot.ini.
