Gday,

I am trying to get a Windows 2k Pro laptop to boot, but it blue screens at login. As soon as you enter in a username and password (doesn't matter what username or password), it will blue screen as soon as you hit enter... left shift + enter doesn't work either.

The computer can boot into safe mode no worries. Have run a repair on the system, disabled and reset the bios... doesn't seem to matter...

Unfortunately the error does not say what is causing the memory violation... so not easy to troubleshoot.

Any help would be great.

For similar errors in NT the Microsoft site recommends using a service pack to resolve the issue.

Not sure if SPs will install from safe mode but may be worth a try if you haven't installed SP 1 or 2 already:
