I have setup two new Dell systems, one a Pent III and the other a Pent IIII both with Win2000 Pro. On a occasional basis this error will occur along with the blue screen. Rebooting is good for a while then it happens again. One on a daily basis the other once every 2-3 weeks.

A Kodak USB Picture card reader when plugged into the bus port will go to blue screen while it says it is installing the reader.

Thanks for any help!!

What were you doing prior to the time the blue screen appears?

How much memory do you have, is it CL2 or CL3 and what is your motherboard and BIOS version (the last two alphnumeric digits on the string at the bottom of the POST page) ALso what is the size of your paging system and have you installed new memory since installing the OS ?

Internet explorer 5.0 was open, if you go to address and start typing a new address the screen goes blue every time with the above message or one like it.

I have disabled McAfee virus scan 2001 and the problem has gone away. I'm not sure if I should uninstall the virus software and re-install. The other computer hasn't crashed for a couple of weeks, it has the same anti virus software.

The computer has 256 of memory, I don't know what kind. It is a new Dell. The computers came with win2000, I should not have said setup, the setup I meant was getting it ready for the user.

I'm not sure about the motherboard and BIOS version or paging system size. I have not added new memory.
