After successfully deleting all scanned virus with Norton 2003 AV, I thought I had solved my pop up svchost.exe problems but it returned and is still causing problems with documents and email. On the first reboot after using Norton AV, there was even a message saying that the Norton AV was being attacked! Never seen that before. Regardless, I could use some advice on finding the registry key or whatever is necessary to clear this problem up. It is making it almost impossible to do my work at my office. Thanks

Go to pcpitstop.com and run their virus program online and if it doesn't pick something up you should forget about svchost.exe and look else where for any proplems. Svchost.exe is a ligitmate windows program and it will show up more than once sometimes.
You may try the program Spybot, its free, to see if it will stop the popup.

I am having the same problems with a svchost.exe program error. I am running Win 2000.
The error box pops up about 80% of the time when I start my computer and the other 20% of the time it pops up when I am in the middle of a running a program such as IE, Windows Media Player, or my CD Writing software. I ahve noticed that after this error box pops up, I am not able to sign into Hotmail, run my CD Writing software, run Windows Media Player, and I believe java may be disabled in IE. I am not able to use drop down menus in IE or click on a link that would open a new IE Window. Every once in a while when I start up, it says that my PC is unable to load a driver for Norton AV. Also, I cannot cut and paste when this svchost.exe error occours.
I tried to use the pcpitstop.com diagnosis, and because Java would not work it would not let me run the online tests.
Thanks,
Drew
