i don't remember what happened before the first 98 crash. I didn't have the restore disk so I did the wrong thing and stuck 2000 in. Now i 2 operating system and neither one work. scandsk appears not to be there when i tried that or fxdisk. even when i'm at the c: dos prompt if i try cd windows or any variation it tells me that it is an invalid file path or directory

... Oh dear I was under the impression that you only used a win2k start-up disk!

... I do hope that you express yourself a little bit more when you propose! ... (not to me of course!)

... if you use a boot-up win98 floppy and type fdisk ... @ option 4 what do you see? Bootdisks HERE <<< click

... not a problem I have found a selection of bootdisks made into "iso" format which can be "burnt" to cd's so you end up with a bootable cd made from it .... click links below:

"...Now i get this message ..."

... nccjohnsontohell... you are not helping yourself

0x0000006B "Process1_ Initialization_Failed" .... correct message(?)

...This STOP message appears when the system is not given enough time to fully replicate the primary partition to the mirror partition before the system was shut down and restarted with the system disk.

... google search reveals more

"...How can I back to my 98...."

... boot up with 98 cd fdisk and format reinstall a fresh win98

I found the answer:
Boot your computer using a Window 98 boot disk. You may need to add Smartdrv.sys to the floppy, to use on older systems. You can find Smartdrv.sys in the TOOLS, OLDDOS directory of a Windows 98 install disk

At the A prompt type FDISK, follow instructions to delete an existing partition, or create a partition.

At the A prompt type FORMAT C, follow instructions

At the A prompt type Smartdrv, press enter

At the A prompt type CD E: where E: is the CD ROM

Place the OS install CD in the CD Drive

At the A prompt type CD i386, press enter

At the A prompt type winnt, press enter, follow on screen instructions

That's it!
