Hello,
My modem Alcatel Speedtouch USB is not working properly on my computer (works fine elsewhere) eversince I accidentally switched off one process (unknown) on the task manager list. I have tried to re-configure everything but the system only recognizes ethernet connections now (???), and when trying to install new drivers the computer does not even recognize the modem! Plz help! thank you in advance, and have a nice weekend. K

Stopping a process in tsak manager doesnt disable it, only stops it for that windows session as it will restart the next time assuming it isnt a service that was disabled. If you cannot get the PC to see the modem (look in device manager to verify it isnt already there) then the modem or the usb port may be bad but, I am betting it is already there.

Other devices do work on any of the three USB ports on my PC. The flashing red light indicates all activity is dead, latest drivers fail to fix it. This is becoming a *BIG* annoyance, and I doubt a 45min phone call with my ISP will lead to a solution either... Any other ideas? Thanks for your reply anyway.

What is the exact model of the modem, I'll loo at their website and see if I can think of anything. Is the modem USB onbly or does it support ethernet as well?

Hi DS,

It's the old Alcatel (now Thomson) SpeedTouch 300 USB. In theory it supports Ethernet and I heard there's a Linux version either.
