First, make sure your virus protection is up-to-date by getting the latest updates. Then get Spybot and run it to clean up any spyware which often slows down systems. Get rid of unnecessary file in your Temp folders and Recycle Bin. In Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Internet Options, Temporary Internet Files and delete Cookies and Delete Files. Then go to the Settings tab and reduce the size of the file to something about75Megs. All of these operations should be done regularly - once a week for me - to keep things running smoothly.
