Comment:

Every time I log in I get an error message as follows.

Cannot import C:\WINDOWS\sp.dll: Not all data was succesfully written to the registry. Some keys are open by the system or other processes.

The title of the error box is Registry Editor. We have mutiple log on's under Win 2000. This is driving me mad and our IT guy doesn't have a clue either.
Please help

Getting rid of that blasted www.jethomepage.com in internet explorer.

Okay so it takes alot to really piss me off. And I hate nothing more than applications/viruses/trojans that screw with your settings. Nothing more annoying.

There's this annoying piece of trash (probably a VB script of some sort) floating around the net taking advantage of numerous bugs in IE, that basically sets some of your IE pages, like youer search, start page, to a worthless page (http://www.jethompage.com/ie").

So here is how you get rid of www.jethomepage.com/ie

Steps to removal:

1. look in your windows folder. if there is a file sp.dll of 1k in size, delete it. it's not a dll file but a registry file.
2. fire up regedit
3. go to local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run
4. delete the line that says regedit -s c:\windows\sp.dll
the above line may not look exactly like that, but if it contains regedit -s and sp.dll, delete it.

Don't delete anything else unless you know what you are doing.
