Dear Network operators / Network hobbyists,
My company has a big problem rolling out Windows 2000 SP3 onto our desktops.
What we have is a perfectly working Windows 2000 SP2 RIS image.
We migrated SP3 into the SP2 i386 directory of the RIS image file.
Then after the completion of the automatic RIS setup installation we get with the first boot the blue screen with
0x0000007B (.........)INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICEOur affected office computers:
Compaq Evo D300
Compaq Evo D310
Compaq Evo N600c
Compaq Deskpro EP550
Compaq Deskpro P1000
Compaq TekraI tried the Dutch and English SP3 and both they fail on that.
So i hope you guys will help me out solving this problem.
Maybe it is a .dll or .sys driver i have to change to get it working again? With best regards,
Wouter Nieuwstad

The following is a way to fix the "Inaccesible boot device" problem on a Win 2000 broken machine:
Boot from the Win 2000 CD-ROM, and select to Repair the current installation using the Console. This will get you to the command prompt where you will type chkdsk /p /r.
After you reboot the system, start Windows 2000 in Safe Mode. Open My Computer, right click the hard disk Icon, select Properties, Tools, Check now, mark the Automatically fix... and Scan for... and let it roll. After the next reboot the problem is fixed.
I 've tried this in more than 5 Dell PC's succesfully

Dear Bill,
Thanks for the Tip!
But i cannot use your fix because i will have to rollout around 100 new systems. And i can't find anyone who wants to walk along the 100 systems to perform the hd fixes.
Thanks anyhow.
With best regards, Wouter Nieuwstad
