as soon as the sp1 update was rebooting, permanent
boot error lockup- assuming it has to do with my
promise 100 card (no drive hooked to it, because
it wont boot in win98 with one attached). help, cant boot win2000 to safe mode (freezes, same error 'no-boot'), dont know how to fix it......
thanks

sounds strange...not booting in 98, you install your drivers for it?

i'm not sure if this will work, but i would boot to win2k setup with your cd and when the setup screen comes up hit F6 and it should allow you to install third party drivers...put your promise disk in there and then have win2k repair your boot. hopefully that will fix your problem...

I have a promise fasttrak 100. To get it to boot in 98, you have to do a "sys c" from a 98 bootdisk for the boot geometry to be correct, that will work for your 98 problem. As far as 2000 goes ( I'm running that) You may have to restore the system 1st configuration from the recovery console in order to get things going again. If you do that you will have to reinstall your hardware and drivers. I too have SP1 and have had no problems.
