I recently re-formatted a Toshiba Satellite Pro 6000 with W2K and my sound just went "south" on me. I made sure that the proper drivers were installed, however the sound is no longer working. Could this be an IRQ conflict? All your help is appreciated.

wouldnt have thought its a hardware fault, although i have heard of this before.
Check your device IRQ settings, there arnet usually many free on a laptop due to no pci slots etc.
try this driver: ALi WDM Audio Driver for Windows 98SE/2000 (v5.12.01.5140; 09-17-2001; 3.39M)
on the us toshiba support website.

I've loaded quite a few Toshibas with 2K and had a few act up in odd ways. Some things I've found to work:
-Check the BIOS, make sure the sound is enabled, note the sound type if listed.
-Go into the CtrlPanel and wipe out any and all sound related drivers/devices, make sure the joystick and other #^&* is taken out.
-As above, d/l the correct driver, matching to the type listed and make sure it is accessible on the drive in UNzipped format, unless it is a .exe
-Reboot, and if 2K finds the driver, point to you source. If the source is an .exe, then skip through the install, make sure it does NOT install any default crap and run the .exe you d/l'd from Toshiba. You should hear noise after a reboot.
