Few weeks back, one of my computer files got corrupted causing some boot error. I had to re-format everything. I re-installed the OS Windows 2000 but the sound driver was missing. I've tried to locate it on certain sites but couldn't find it. Although it was there at the first time when I installed Windows 2000. I don't seem to understand the problem. Is there some fault in hardware? I downloaded Driver Detective to find out the manufacturer details and they are listed below:
Device Type: Sound DriverDevice Manufacture Name: Microsoft Corporation
Device Name: Microsoft® Windows(TM) Operating System
Internal Name: Sound
Device Model Number: Version 3.10
Description: WOW SOUND Driver Module
File Name: sound.drv
I don't know what to do any more. I'm tired of looking for a driver. It just doesn't seem to work. My sound card is built on the motherboard and I don't know what motherboard I've got. That's all I could provide you with. Hope u'll find a solution for this problem.
Thanx
Afshan

go into bios. when your machine loads up press either del/f10/f1 (depends on your computer) then you can find out your motherboard make, speed and lots of other things. thi may help you find your driver.

Sounds like youve got onboard soundpro chipset (cmi8330)
Go to Driverguide.com look under soundpro channel for win2000 driver.
I warn you now youll probably activate sound card but the qualities poor.
Theres an issue with win2000 and onboard sound.
