Comment: Can someone please help? I am trying to get a Sony digital camera to work with a Windows 2000 PC over USB. When I run the installer on the CD-ROM included with the camera to install the USB driver , the installer indicates that the install was successful. Although the PC recognizes when I plug the camera into the USB port, the application software doesn't detect the camera and tells me to check connections. The Device Manager shows the camera under USB devices, but indicates a problem (yellow exclamation mark). The details indicate "no drivers are loaded for this device". If I select "re-install driver" at the prompt, I get the message "the installation failed because a function driver was not specified for this device instance". I've also tried uninstalling and re-installing the application software. I have successfully installed other USB devices on this computer, so I know it works. Any ideas? Thanks!

Reply: (edit)I just had a hell of a time getting a Sony usb camera to install properly. One thing I've noticed about these cameras is the drivers like to be installed in a certain way--before you connect the USB cable. If you haven't tried this already, I'd uninstall the camera drivers from Device Manager, disconnect your camera's USB cable, reboot, install the drivers again, shut down PC, then connect the USB cable, and boot. Be sure camera has good battery charge or is using A/C. HTH.
