Comment:

I run a small (6 WSs & 1 P2P "server") network.

When the machines are quiescent their CPU usage is between 1-3% *except* on one unit, a custom Intel 850 board & chipset I built, nearly identical to the others, which run fine.

The problem is that for one the CPU is always running between 25 & 30% even with Norton and everything else off. The task manager shows no extraordinary programs. The line itself in Task Mgr has a S/N of about 10% or less meaning it looks like freshly-mowed grass with few spiikes or drops. Memory usage is about 25-30% also. I recently rebuilt the system from format C:\ and only have Office, Web and a few graphics pgms - same as the others

I do AdAware every day and a full virus scan every week and all updates are in place. Just did FixKlez=0 Any ideas? Can this be normal? Is there some way I can check where my cycles are going? Sorry if this is too long.

Thanks

Have you tried disconnecting the machine from the network and see if activity is the same?
