Hey all. I have a Smart and Friendly CD SpeedWriter Plus, and i can't get it to work with any burning software in Windows 2000. Do i need a windows driver for this? or is it just a lost battle and i should downgrade back to windows 98 (where it did work before)? Please get back to me and i would appreciate it.

This i found :

The Smart And Friendly (SAF) company is out of business and their internet site is not available. We are not affiliated with SAF in any way. We are placing the information on this page as a courtesy to customers of SAF.

Also, SAF did NOT create software for Windows 2000 or Millenium Edition (ME) and now that they are out of business there is not other place to get such drivers..

We also can not provide you with any disks or CDs, we do not have them.

T: You DO need a W2K driver if W2K doesnot
recognize your Burner (which is very likely but check again if you are not sure)

T: I would NEVER go back to W98 "alone"
if you have enough free space on disk
try dual booting with W2K and use W98 for
your burner .
Use FAT32 for W2K and W98 if possible.

Other solution is : buy a Plextor (very good
i have heard) and ask (to check) if it is
W2K compatible (lekely but check anyway).

...but i cannot look into your pocket
(for the money ;) )

Please let me know what you did.

Good luck

Theo

Hey,
I would say you are just unlucky, at work I have a Yamamha Scsi burner on a scsi card and at home I have a IDE Sony 10x burner neither burners have ever given me any problem. I always use Nero as my software, why dont you just buy a new 16x burner for £60 (www.ebuyer.com) and be done.
