Hi,
My girlfriend had a old Pentium 133 running win 95 with a 2 gig hard drive with 32 mb ram and basically she couldent do anythink on it, so I setup a old Compac Pressario 5376 that a guy gave me when he got a new computer,Its got a celeron 460m/hz processer with 256mb of ram and I got a 10 gig hard drive from the markets for it, Orriginally it was running windows 98 but ive set it up with W2K and got all the updates from microsoft.
Problem is its running very slow, programs take a long time to open, it takes forever to boot up and its just not as fast as I thought it should be, ive run ad-aware, spybot, CWShredder, CCLeaner, AVG A/V and Zone Alarms firewall. Nothink realy scary showes up on it as far as viruses or spyware. Its well above W2K minimum requirements so why would it still be slow?
Ive set it up with NTFS, would it run better with Fat32 instead or should I just start again and put W98 on it?
Any other sujestions??

On a small drive like that : yes. Ntfs is faster on larger drives. But that might not be your only problem but it won't hurt to change file system that is for sure. Try it and repost the results.

I don't think that 10gigs is small drive, try to go to compaq support site and download some tools for your compaq model.there should be some tuning tools use them to improove your system speed.
