I am having very slow shut down speed. It takes me abt 1 full min for my computer to shut down.
I was told that I could actually speed up shutting down by changing the registry.

My computers, both xp and win2k sometimes take a long time to shut down. Seems to depend on what kind of tasks I was doing before shutting down. I doubt that it's anything to worry about.

u might be having lot of softwares to unload from the memory bfr shutting down.
take the reg editor by typing regedit at run then find the following
remove those unwated softwares that load at startup.Be cautious dont remove any values which u are not sure abt.
and if u are in hurry and is using a new cabinet u can just press the off button . windows will turn off at good speed but wont save the windows setting changes u have made in that session
