When using explorer or any other prog to look at directorys on another machine on the lan, it takes for every to display the folders. nce the C drive folders are displayed and you try to go to a sub folder it takes langer again. the deeper you try to go the longer it takes.

Once you get the file you want, work on it and try to save it back to the original location often it tells you it can not be done. is if the network connection has timed out. If I try to print the file, network printers it tells me there is insufficient memory, even if ther ae no other programs open. yet if I pull same file up on a Win98 machine it prints and allows ne to saem at any time. It is just on the laptop this happens. All the other windows machines access the directories on the other machines in an instant. the Lan is 100mB TCIP based.
Any ides as to howe to speed up the Lan browsing

It could be something to do with DNS. Make sure that your DNS server IP address is correct on the slow machine.

I've had it before where I had two DNS addresses registered on a PC. Whenever I tried to browse the network it would take an age or even fail completely. Turns out that one of the DNS servers no longer existed and once that was removed from the IP settings on the slow PC it all kicked back in and worked as it should.
