Mobo Soyo PX400 Dragon Lite
1 30G WD hardisk and 1 120G WD harddisk
VIA chipset

This mobo has 2 IDE channels on it and i use one of them for CD and DVD rooms. The other left(IDE1) i use it to connect both of my harddisks. However..i have been experiencing a sluggish reading and writting of both harddisk. The read speed is about 3.2 MB/s sooo slow. I don't have that problem if i run only one hd..and i didn't have that problem before with the same setting. I have checked that they are running in ULtra DMA mode (devices manager).
The only thing that i disable is writting cache.

Any help would be great!
Thank you for reading!

Hi,

are both drives the same speed....
Meaning both 7200 or both 5400 ?

This can influence the speed of the disks..

Try to set one hd with a cd-rom and the other with the dvd and see if the speed is the same.

Thank you for the input! However, put cd with hd..the hd would work to the speed of cd, same to hd. I decided to buy a ATA card and it solve the problem.
Thank you again!
