I have a really simple/small neetwork set up at a church and am aving HUGE headaches over it! There are 2 Win2K Pro systems and 1 Win98. The Win98 is a non-issue as it is old and hardly ever even turned on. The problem is getting th two Win2K systems to network. All the computers go to a switch. One Win2K system has dial up internet that I want to share. So the other box gets an IP address but can't ping the first box! I can't browse the Network Neighborhood or anything! Any ideas>??

First off....to share the internet, on the PC with the dialup you'll have to enable ICS on the dialup adapter. This will change your IP address on the NIC on that PC to: 192.168.0.1

You will then need to give your second PC an IP address in the same range (192.168.0.2 will work nicely) using the same subnet mask (255.255.255.0) and using the following for your Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1

If both PC's have the same workgroup name and IP's in the same range, the LAN should work as well as internet connectivity for both.

use the ip range: 192.169.0.1 >>> as the 168 range is commonly used for configuring switches and routers

Actually, you are both wrong.

I already have ICS enabled and in Windows ICS the host computer automatically sets itself to 192.168.0.1 and then acts as a DHCP server for the rest of the LAN.
