Of late my W2K system has not been shutting down on the first attempt. When going through the motions via the start menu shutdown function it takes 2 and sometimes 3 attempts before it shuts down. The wierd thing is,I created a new partition on my hard drive and installed XP Pro there and that started doing it too. On top of that ,my missus' PC which is networked and also running W2k pro is doing it as well. I thought it might be an installed program causing it but there isn't a common program to all 3 O/S's that hasn't been there since well before the problem started and of the new programs installed the only one common to all 3 is the latest Zonealarm Pro so I tried uninstalling ZA but it made no difference. I then thought it might be a worm or trojan or virus but I've got Norton Systemworks + Anti-Trojan + Adaware 6 Pro witch are all up to date and none of them has found anything so now I'm stumped. Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas that might help me find the problem?
