OS: windows 2k pro
CPU/Ram: 600 mhz 128mb

i had installed windows 2000 professional recently in intel 810b chipset with cel 600 mhz processor 128 mb ram 20 gb hardisk when shutdown the machine iam not getting the prompt its now safe to turn off your computer like win98 the screen will become blank & when i restart the machine iam getting scandisk option

Could well be the motherboard lithuim battery, try replacing that.
