hmmmm. how should i put this..
is win2k crap.. i have only had it for a week and i have got problems already.
i fix most of them but the latest 1 is so annoying... shutting down.. i can never shut down 1st time. every time i shut down the screen go black and my pc is still on. i then have 2 reboot then restart then shutdown. so annoying when u just what 2 switch off ur pc.

First I would say that win 2000 is at least as good as XP I have both and find myself using win 2000 most of the time. You may have your power option set wrong go to the control panel and click on power see how it is setup. The only other thing I could think of would be that you have and app or driver not shuting down as it should. But check the power option first

Power managment in BIOS might be the other issue, try updating BIOS on motherboard to newest version. I had old motherboard that used to do the same thing. Newer motherboard doesn't have the same issue, MSI KT3 Ultra2 shuts down fine w/ win2k .... even hibernates (but I hate hibernation, so I don't use it).

For the first time ever (5 months), my Dell laptop running W2K will not shut down. Nor will it stand by. The main change is that I installed IE 6 (replacing IE 5.5). I hate to just power it off... Are there any virii or worms out there for which this is indicative?
