setup.exe....100% processor usage

When a friend starts Internet explore a program called setup.exe appears in his task window.and his processor usage goes to 90-100% and basically bogs his computer down. He is on a network.when he stops Iexplore his processor usage goes to 0-2% like it should...could this be a virus

Hi,

Couold be, or ppossibly spyware of one sort. .

Certainly do a full virus scan with an up to date scanner. Check also Ad Aware 6 and use to do a full scan.

If on a network, are their mapped drives? and are the other networked PC on/available?

Check them too as some of the newer virus transfer themselves over your network connections. . .
