Hi, I am trying to transfer pictures from my new digital camera to my computer. When I connect camera to my desktop through usb and start it, the machine

1) Says its found new hardware
2) services.exe spikes to 99% and just stays there.

I use USB for
1) Ipod
2) Wireless network
3) Printer (a while ago, not now)

I want it to detect
1) My camera
2) Cell phone (that has itunes)

Machine has 2 USB slots.

Can the machine handle finite number of applications that run with USB connections?

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks
Hari

What service pack do you have installed?

Hi,
I have service pack4 installed. Another thing I noticed today is I'm able to plugin my friends camera and the computer recognizes the new hardware right away and pops up the window for searching driver. The same thing doesn't happen in my case.

Thanks
Hari

Look in Device Manager to see if your USB controllers are listed as "Enhanced USB" This indicates USB 2.0 as opposed to USB 1.1.
