Howdy,
I have a Win2k machine with two NICs and a cable modem. I use this PC for internet sharing.
I checked my Event Log and saw numerous Warnings, all about DHCP and all within 20 minutes of each other. They all say:
Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 0050DAD72053. The following error occured:
The semaphore timeout period has expired. . Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server. My question is this: what is this error, and is it something bad? Can I change a setting so the 'timeout period' is longer and perhaps it won't time out so much (and clog my event log?)
When I see this many warnings I start wondering if something is wrong.
Help? Thanks :)

It means you need to double-check your network settings.
You say you have two NICs, figure out which one that address refers to (it's the card's MAC address) and then check and see if DHCP is setup for that card. If not, then it needs a static IP address (even if it's just a non-routable one)....
