I just installed the security roll up package onto a Dell 'craptop'. Now, the laptop won't boot up at all. I had an ERD, but it didn't work. I ran the repair process using the installation media with no luck. I'm now into the manual recovery console and I've found the $ntuninstallsp2srp1$ directory and don't know what to do from there. Can I just delete the entire directory? Is there a certain file that I should execute within the directory? Please advise. I already searched the MS' knowledgebase, just not very thoroughly.

Ben, what exactly happens when you try powering up? What LED's light up, flash? any beeps, how far into the boot does it go? any messages if it stops on blue screen?

The laptop boots past the POST. Then, it does what looks like a blue screen of death, only smaller. There is a blue rectangle in the middle of the screen. After that, the laptop does nothing.
Earlier in my post I said that I had found the $ntuninstallsp2srp1$ directory and didn't know what to do next. Well, I found another directory called (simple enough) spuninst. Inside the directory is an .exe file named spuninst. However, when I try to execute it I get an error message. The error message reads: The command is not recogized Type HELP for a list of supported commands. F@#K!
The user of this laptop can't go much longer w/out this laptop. I may just have to reinstall Win2k.

I posted earlier but, it doesn't seem to have shown up. My previous, nonexistent post doesn't matter now anyway. I fixed the problem. I almost reinstalled Win2k, but decided to try one more thing before I gave up. Since I couldn't uninstall the SRP1 from the recovery console I decided just to delete that compressed directory it resided in. After that I rebooted and ran the recovery process one more time. This worked and now the old installation of Win2k is operational. I guess that's why they pay me the big bucks...... Yeah right, I need a raise.
Damn, I'm good.
;)
