Subject: SBlive does not work with 2000PRO |
Comment: I can't get my SBlive to work with 2000PRO. I had to remove it during setup, 2000 frooze during hrdwaredetection. After installation of 2000 I placed the card back, 2000 recognices the card and installs the drivers. But after rebooting it hangs during the boot. After starting in safe mode and disabeling the SBlive(WDM) I can boot normaly again. But if I then enable the device ( takes a minute or so )the only sound I get is the first 1/4 sec. of the sound which repeats until I stop the sound. Tried every driver and update from creative, swapped the card to another PCI-slot, still does not work. Even swapped my older SBlive (CT4670) for a new SBlive 1024 ( CT48??). Same results. There are no hardwareconflicts and the card is working fine in win98 on the same PC. The only thing I can think of is that it has something to do with my motherbord ( supersocket7 with via chipset ) Anyone any idea's???

Reply: (edit)I installed my SBLive on socket7 motherboard and it is working fine. First check the IRQ for your sound card. If it is 11, go to the device manager and uninstall everything under Sounds and Multimedia. Shut down your computer. when you restart, go to your CMOS and set IRQ 11 to Legacy ISA. I had the same problem when I installed my SBLive on IRQ 11. Win 2000 should detect your sound card and install it. Just let it do so. restart again. Then, if you downloaded the SBwire software from creative.com, then you can install it by double clicking on the setup. Everything should work fine now. Good Luck

Reply: (edit)I have an SB Live Player 1024 with an VIA-Chip-Motherboard. You must install the latest VIA-Drivers for your board and then the Soundcard should work.
