Comment: I'm assembling a Core 2 Duo rig around an Asus P5B-E mobo. Can I use SATA drives with this OS? Oyster

Reply: (edit)I'm running 2000 PRO, SP4 with SATA II right now and it was very easy to set up, no different than with IDE on my motherboard. Good Luck Smitty

Reply: (edit)You will need to offer the SATA controller chipset drivers on floppy at start of install "F6" to load additional drivers.

Reply: (edit)Thanks, gents. That's encouraging. Orbital, I presume the drivers are downloaded from the manufacturer's web site? (In this case, Western Digital?) I've been warned not to build a rig even in these enlightened times without including a floppy drive. I can see why. Oyster

Reply: (edit)Many mb disks (cd's) have a little program that will build a floppy for you. Check there first. Larry Today seems like a good day to chew through the restraints.

Reply: (edit)My motherboard has built in SATA II and I didn't have to install any drivers, just like using IDE hard drives, so I didn't need a floppy drive. Smitty
