Subject: same start menu for all users?OS: Win 2000 ProCPU/Ram: 600mhz |
Comment: As an administer for a single computer, how can i configure the start menu so that all users who log on to this computer have the same options/programs listed when the user presses the start button? example 1: I would like to have the start menu display the option to 'Log Off "user name"', but i don't want to have to configure this manually for every user, one at a time like i am presently doing ! Example 2: Also have certain users to only access certain programs installed on the computer. I want to have 2 out of the 4 users to only have access to Visual Studio 6.0! How can i configure these 2 examples while logged in as administrator on this computer?

Reply: (edit)Use the Access Control Lists (ACL's) and the users accounts. Add the user accounts to the ACL of anything you want them to have access to, and don't add them to the things you don't want them to access. NOTE: in order for this to work, you have to remove the Everyone group from those same shares.

Reply: (edit)how do i access this ACL, so i can make these changes to user accounts? Do i do all these changes to all 5 users while logged in as administrator while on my Win2000Svr? I want to AVOID logging into a client computer as each individual user one at a time and making the changes to each users start menu, i want start menu to be set the same for all current 5 users and for future new users that are added to this domain.
