Lately, I've been receiving numerous access attempts at my system and have been unable to understand why. I've run virus scan numerous times and nothing has come up. Then yesterday, I found this file called runservices.exe and what was interesting was taht everyday it said it was created that day. So, I checked on my other win2000 comp and found out that the file wasn't there. However, that one only has service pack 1 and the computer with the runservices.exe file has service pack 2. Does anyone know if this is a system file or a virus?? Also, I was unable to find how this file was loaded into memory. I checkd the win.ini and run/run services in my registry but found nothing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Not sure what the runservices.exe file is. I don't think it's a Service Pack 2 file, course I could be wrong. What directory does it reside in? If you feel adventuresome you could always back the file up, delete it and reboot and see what happens.....

The File is in the WINNT/ directory. I've tried deleting it but can't because its running. Then when I try to shut it down from task manager, I get an error saying Access Denied.
The file is runservice.exe (I think I might have spelled it as runservices.exe)
