Router to switch

CPU/Ram: 500mhz 512mb

Right now i have a linksys router to split my internet connection. Can I take a switch and then use that to further split the connection? Also then could I network the computers over that?

Depends on what you mean by "split". Split it up so all your computers can use the internet, yes. Can you also nework the computers over the switch, yes.
