I used to right click on Start, and select Explore. The Windows Explorer window would appear with all my drives compacted. All good.

But then, I had to reinstall my OS, and now my right click Start, Explore combo brings up the Windows Explorer window expanded out to

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Start Menu

I really liked the old way. Any ideas how to change back?

Sorry...
I would use the Windows key + E

This indeed leaves all drives compacted.

Yes use the Windows Key + E

In all honesty, I've never seen the "right click on Start and select Explore" open to all compacted drives. It always opens to the Start Menu folder of whatever user is logged on. I don't know what you messed up on your previous install but it appears you've got it installed the correct way this time...

Right click on My Computer and select Explore and it will display with drives compacted.
