Restoring User Profiles

I installed active directory on my home computer (celeron 400mhz) purely for learning purposes. Of course after installing the ad my old computer stalled. After a few days of playing around I decided to remove the AD from my system. I did it. So I ran DCPROMO. During the removal I was asked to name the user and give it a password, which I did (not paying a lot of attention to it). Actually I just typed in my current user name and password. I rebooted and logged on again. To my big surprise I was logged on a completely different desktop. When I went to the System Properties/User Profiles I realized that I had changed it. I can see that there are several “account unknown.” I cannot access it. The only option that I have is to delete it. I presume that One of these “unknown account” is my old user profile. Is there any way that I can restore my old user profile?

If you have admin. privileges, browse to C:\Documents and Settings, find your old profile (by checking the content of "Desktop" folder for instence), copy the content of the whole profile to your new one.
