Hi, Three months ago, we updated from Novell to W2K. Backups of the Novell server were made on DLT Tape backup. The backups on the W2K server are made on the same media. When I try with Veritas (9.0) to restore some files (DBs for example), I get the message that the compression used for Novell is not compatible and blah blah blah. Is there a software in W2K that can read Novell backups efficiently?

If you can copied the novell files to a local workstation and then backupped you would be able to restore to W2k. Problem here is BE wants to restore to the same file system ie. novell format not ms ntfs format. This is key for BE since you might also want to restore security rights which also are different between NW and W2K
