restarting randomly

I've got this pc about two months ago. It was working fine, until I got a virus. I formatted my drive, and re-installed windows. Everything is working ok, except at random times it seems my hard drive just shuts off. I either get a blue screen, it just restarts, or freezes about an hour after ive been using it. When it restarts, it wont recognize my hardrive. I have to turn my pc compleatly off and then on for it too see my hard drive again. Could this be due to a power supply issue, or maybe some jumpers or somthing? Thanks.

I think I've dealt with exactly the same problem before. You should rearrange the hard drives on the ribbon cable, or if you have only one hard drive, hook it up to another connector on the ribbon cable. If that doesnt work, get a new ribbon cable. Let me know if that works. Thanks.
I just tried that, and no luck, but thanks for your help!

I had that same problem before, I think your jumpers are out of wack on the IDE ribbon. Also if you can, make less on a line, if you have 2 devices on one line and none on the other, than put one on the other.
