Don't know if this has anything to do with it....but whenever I see the letters "nav", I automatically think of the Norton Anti Virus....do you have norton installed?

not sure it has got anything to do with norton... if u look closer next time u cannot open a web page or stop the loading of a web page it always loads the res://C:\WINNT\System32\shdoclc.dll/navcancl.htm file. its something to do with IE.

That res://C:\WINNT\System32\SHDOCLC.dll/navc
looks like a location to a certain file in your computer. From your C: to a directory named WINNT(possibly windows) to your System32 folder and your shdoclc.dll file which most .DLL files are stored in the system folder. Have you ever looked for that navcancl.htm? That part most likely looks like a site location. But is most likely temporary and vanished from your comp. i'm sure 'res' stands for resolution, but i'm not sure what resolution to what. I know that SHDOCLC.dll control some resolutoin thru IE.

-the number is a CLSID
-try to look for the number in the registry and there could be more than 1 location; then back up the registry and delete the folder/s.
-remember to back up

Rob, that porn site default home page thing may have nothing to do with shdoclc.dll, you may be infected with the JS Exception Exploit virus. Get a good Virus scanner, or go to Symantec.com to get some help. the Exploit virus is used by most porn sites and it is used to set the default home page to a porn site.
