when you install 2000, did you do a fresh install or just upgrade from 98??
if you upgraded from windows 98..then you can go to add/remove programs in control panel and remove windows 2000 then it will go back to windows 98 automatically and restore all your previous configurations
if you did a fresh install then you will need to get a windows 98 floppy boot disk which you can obtained at http://www.bootdisk.com and get into fdisk after you boot up and delete the windows 2000 parition and create a new one for windows 98

go into your bios (something like "Press F2 for setup when booting). Make sure your machine is set to boot from the floppy drive first, cd second and hd last.
I can't imagine going back to 98se though...
