Replace NT PDC with new W2K server

Hi
I'm replacing our old NT server(PDC) with a new one with Win 2000. I don't want to install NT on the new server and the old one can't be upgraded to 2000. It's the only server in our domain.
The question is: Is it possible to make the 2000 a member server, copy all files e.t.c. and the take the NT offline, install AD and redo the account manually? What problems could I expect this way and is there a better way to do it? There aren't more than a 100 something user accounts so it isn't such a big deal to redo them.

Installing NT as a bdc, then promote to pdc, then upgrade to w2k is the best way of saving yourself work.
But if you don't go that path then plan on visiting every station to have it connect to the new w2K domain. Make sure your DNS is correct and working in W2K. Consider using dhcp from the w2k box so you have dynamic updates of dns.
