It seems that the print spool is not emptying which means that all the previous day's print jobs are again output when the system is rebooted. Double-clicking on the printer icon when the PC is first powered up shows all the previous printjobs and they have to be manually deleted to stop them printing again. I can't find any setting which is causing this... any ideas ? TIA. Mike.

If you mean that every time you reboot there appear print jobs that you haven´t launched, then they must be being launched from somewhere else. To begin, try booting into safe mode and going to Start -> Control Panel -> Printers -> (your printer). If the print jobs are there, erase them and try booting into normal mode to see if they are gone. If not, then you must check which programs are you loading at startup (in Start -> Programs -> Startup and in the registry editor (regedit), under the key named HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run).
Hope this helps!
Andrés

Thanks Andrés, the print jobs are actually ones that have been completed but on reboot they print again. The PC is not on my site and I can't trust the user to enter the registry !!! so I'll take a look next time I am there. I do not think anything runs on startup (except Office 2000. I will try to get them to look at it in Safe Mode.
Thanks again.

Check to see if the LPT is set to Bidirectional or Unidirectional. If you have the printer set to enable bi directional support in windows but have the port set to unidirectional the computer will never know the job finished. Therefore it may try to reprint on reboot. Just a guess though.

That could well be it, I'll get the users to check the settings and see if it cures. Many thanks & Season's Greetings.
Mike
