renaming a domain computer

Hey, I recently formatted my W2K server and the active directory, etc. I also formatted the drives of the members of my domain and renamed them on the network. However, there were some computers that weren't formatted and still have the old domain name, workstation name, etc. Is there any way I can rename these computers without formatting them as well??

It's not necessary to reformat to rename & join a new domain or workgroup!!!
right click on "my computer", chose "properties", the chose the "network properties" tab.. you will see where network ID, and Properties to change name & domain are all there..

Be warned, that the next time you log in, the users for that computer may lose their profiles. This is what happened to me when I created a new DC, then changed the domain. Good Luck.

I've already tried running the network ID, but it says that one set of credentials is incorrect. What does that mean?

It may mean the logon you are using does not have administrative rights to do change the Domain/Workgroup information. Try using the local Administrator account to change the information (make sure at the loging prompt you are logging in to This Computer, and not the old Domain name). Also try giving the computer a Workgroup names first, then joining it to the new domain.
As to the user profiles, yes, the user will get new profile that corresponds to the new domain, even is the username and password match their old one. But the old profile filder will STILL be in the Documents and Settings folder, where you can retrieve all their old information.
